Great job illustrating the fight scenes in Zero Killer. Some of the moves employed by the protagonist look to me like they were based on kali/escrima techniques (i.e., the martial art used by Matt Damon in the "Bourne Identity" movie). Am I onto something there or was it just coincidence?
Thanks, the majority of the fight scenes were very clearly described by Arvid, he even ended up laying out a page in #5 (page 21). I'm a lover, not a fighter.

We actually choreographed the fights, the ones in the first few issues, anyway, on top of my apartment building in Queens in 100+ degree / 95 percent humidity weather in Queens. What fun!
The unarmed fights are all based on Kempo, a style I studied for a very loooong time. And yes! The knife fights are based on Arnis, something I've dabbled in a bit. It's similar to Escrima, or so I'm told -- paired machete/rattan cane fighting.
Interesting bit of trivia -- Matty C. looks just an MMA fighter named Josh Burkman.
Well, regardless of who planned the scenes, they were very clear and easy to follow. The scenes looked like something you would see in a real fight (or a fight stylized for film/TV, at least), as opposed to the "suspended in mid-air while throwing a flying punch" stuff that's so common in a lot of action-oriented comic book art.
Are there any plans to continue Zero Killer's story?

And yeah, I was specifically thinking of the scene where Zero intercepts Southpaw`s knife attack and breaks his hand with his fist. It`s a classic kali/escrima/arnis move, IIRC (studied Remy Presas' Modern Arnis system when I was younger).

Remy Presas! I know that name. I did an intense weekend seminar on Arnis. I don't remember the instructor's name, but he was a terrific human being.
